Part 3: WHAT

The HE4DS Trainer explores dance-specific techniques and exercises that you can apply to yourself and to others. The goal is always: Level up. Dance Better stay healthy. 🚀 

We cover all major areas of dance training, provide you with deep knowledge on all relevant topics and explore the corresponding exercises in praxis. 

1⃣ DANCE PREPARATION is all about getting physically fit for dance: mobility, stability, strength, endurance 

2⃣ BEFORE TRAINING: how to warm up generally and style-specific to perform better an minimise the risk of injury? 

3⃣ DURING TRAINING: Which training methods are there? How to go full-out? How to carry out a proper, safe technique training? What are learning strategies that help you achieve your goals? We are going to answer all that and more. 

4⃣ AFTER TRAINING: Performing well begins with a good recovery. A good recovery starts with an effective cool-down. Let's break down those lactates! (don't worry we'll explain) 

5⃣ BEFORE COMPETITION you need the best preparation to get the best results. A major part of this is Breathwork. Well cover that and more. 

6⃣ RECOVERY is actually part of a regular training, not a break from training. As soon as you understand this, the techniques we're going to show you get a whole new meaning. Get ready to recover like a PRO.

Part 2: HOW

🏋️ How to get the right physique for your dance style? 

As we already stated in our previous post, you need a solid foundation. 

A solid foundation consists of a body that can 

↪️ move everywhere it wants to with the necessary range of motion and a body that is 

↪️ stable enough to carry out the movements as well as endure the loads that hit our body when hit the floor. 

It also consists of a body and mind which are ready for different situations. The training room is not a stage is not a concrete floor is not a ballroom. Dancing in front of a crowd is not the same as dancing alone or in a cypher with your friends. 

💡 The HE4DS Trainer is an integrative course that guides you through all stages of dance (conditioning - preparation - training - competition - recovery) and targets all key points (parts of your body and mind). 

Becoming bulletproof only works if you treat it holistically.

✨ Not a single workout, not one specific exercise - but being healthy, strong and ready overall.

A bulletproof body that provides you with the freedom to move how you WANT. 

1⃣ Part 1: WHY

As every dance style has its own movement foundation, the HE4DS Trainer is the foundation of physical fitness for dance. It's a basic toolkit of knowledge, exercises and concepts to make & keep you fit for dancing. 

There's many motives to dance. Win, shine, make art, have fun, perform, test your limits. 

No matter what that is, it all starts with a healthy and capable body. 

How do you practice? What are you doing before? After? How do you reach your dance goals?  Training more and training hard are good, training smart is better. 

Training smart allows you to go where you want to go - but faster, healthier and better. 

There's TONS of material out there. The problem is not the lack of resources. The main challenge is to know what to use, to filter the useful from the useless and to not waste time with trial and error. 

What we as dancers want is to dance - not spend most of our time experimenting with fitness concepts and health gurus. 

Being equipped with the right physical foundation provides us with more time, more freedom and more security. And then, it makes us dance better. 

That's the Why.

3⃣ Part 3: WHAT? 

We have the goal, we have the plan. What's left now is the tools. 

What are we going to study, explore and understand at the HE4DS Detective? 

Part one is going to be all about dance styles. Do you know what physical abilities a popper need? What are the body parts that are most strained for bgirls and bboys? What Waacking dancers need to train? 

We go through all major urban dance styles plus ballet and contemporary. We will analyse them. 

Then, we are going to teach you scientifically proven and safe methods to test dancers for their physical abilities. We use a scale that has been researched thoroughly by many scientists before us and we show you how to use it in a simple way. 

After that, we teach you the HE4DS Method on top. 

And then? 

Practice, practice, practice.

Spotting small details in others and your own movements takes a lot of training. After a while, you will get super aware of even the slightest deviations. That's the goal. Observe & spot - like a true Detective 🕵️

What we know: In order to train effectively and efficiently, we need to find out about our physical status quo.

Now how are we going to achieve that? 

You see, we are not really fans of looking into the crystal ball 🔮 and hope for some answers. 

🥊 Rock hard empirical evidence is more our thing. 

💪 We have developed a powerful strategy to analyse a Dancer's physical status quo through a series of tests, that are tailored specifically to the demands of their dance. That means general as well as style-specific assessments. 

That way, you as a dancer, a coach or a medical expert, can carry out a thorough analysis of a person's fitness for (their - or your) dance.

After that, you've got a clear vision about what to work on - and in what order. Easy.

1⃣ Part 1: The WHY

The HE4DS Detective is essentially a super efficient way to carry out a performance diagnostic on dancers.

What do people wish for the most when it comes to training advice? From what we have experienced, it is mainly one thing: orientation/guidance. Training time-efficiently and reaching your dance goals is extremely hard if you just don't know where to start. What are your actual weaknesses? Do you know the exact reasons you are not getting that move/win that competition/need more rest than anybody else? Does "I'm just not fit enough yet/I need to train more" give you any idea what to train today, tomorrow or next week? Probably not.

To be able to make a bulletproof training plan, you need to know your/your coachees starting point. The status quo. From there, you can build.

ℹ️ Medical Flossing is a therapeutic technique where you wrap a floss band around a joint or muscle group for 1 to 3 minutes.

➡️ This causes a reduced blood flow & compresses the muscles & fasciae. We use this time frame to manipulate the myofascial layers manually through the floss band for a better mobility. When removing the floss band quickly, the blood rushes back and your lymphatic activity increases.

✅ Flossing therefore improves performance & speeds up recovery!

👍 Dancer @toschkin overstretched his thumb at practice, so we took care of him right before the main event. 🔍 Here we share a glimpse of that backstage moments. 

ℹ️ This kinesiotape application provides the following: It stimulates the receptors of the connective tissue around the first metacarpophalangeal joint and therefore, improves the thumb stability when placing the hand on the floor.
